AIPS Members Elena Bashir and John Mock recently contributed to the book Languages of Northern Pakistan: Essays in Memory of Carla Radloff. The book is a collection of writing that covers research on the many languages and cultures in the northern areas of Pakistan and is dedicated to the memory of Carla Radloff, who was a well-known contributor to the study of languages in Northern Pakistan. The book is now available as an E-Book through Oxford University Press.

Dr. SherAli Tareen recently published a new book titled Perilous Intimacies: Debating Hindu-Muslim Friendship after Empire. The book explores how leading South Asian Muslim thinkers imagined and contested the boundaries of Hindu-Muslim friendship from the late eighteenth to the mid-twentieth centuries. Arguing that what was often at stake in Muslim scholarly discourse and debates on Hindu-Muslim friendship were unresolved tension and fissures over the place and meaning of Islam in the modern world, Perilous Intimacies illuminates the depth, complexity, and profound divisions of the Muslim intellectual traditions of South Asia.
