A Message from AIPS President, Kamran Asdar Ali

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is with much sadness that I share this news.  Intizar Husain—the author of numerous short stories, several novels, essayist and much more passed away on February 3, 2016 in Lahore about a short illness. He was 93.

His works were compiled in STORY IS A VAGABOND, AIPS supported summer 2015 issue—of Manoa.

One of Pakistan's most distinguished writers, Intizar Husain was born in India in 1923 and immigrated to Pakistan during the Partition. An internationally acclaimed writer, critic, and translator, his publications include seven volumes of short stories, four novels, and a novella, as well as travelogues, memoirs, and critical essays. Hussain was among the 10 finalists for the Man Booker International Prize for fiction in 2013.

This is a personal loss for many of us who knew Intizar Saheb, the field of Urdu literature has lost one of it finest.

Best

Kamran
