The American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS), established in 1973, is a bi-national research and education organization with a mission to promote academic study of Pakistan in the US and to encourage scholarly exchange between the US and Pakistan.

It is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, autonomous organization and a member of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers.

AIPS Co-sponsored 7th Annual UM- Pakistan Conference I Gender & Sexuality!!

AIPS is pleased to announce that it will be co-sponsoring the 7th Annual UM- Pakistan Conference. The conference is scheduled for April 7, 2017 at School of Social Works Building – Room 1636, University of Michigan under the theme "Gender & Sexuality.”

Call for submissions: 2016-2017 AIPS Book Prize!!

The American Institute of Pakistan Studies is soliciting books (single authored monographs, no edited volumes) published during the last three years, or nearly published books (galleys must be available) for the 2016-2017 AIPS book prize.

** Please note that this is an academic book prize (literary fiction/short stories are not appropriate for this prize) and only English language books are eligible at this time.**

AIPS Thematic workshop on 'Art, Architecture & Visual Culture: Focus on Popular Culture, Media, & Cinema'

AIPS sponsored Thematic Workshop on 'Art, Architecture & Visual Culture: Focus on Popular Culture, Media, & Cinema' was led by Dr. Iftikhar Dadi (Cornell University) and hosted by Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on January 2-6, 2017. This workshop focused on methodologies for the study of cinema, television, and digital media, including narratology and textual analysis, ideological analysis, archival research, media ethnography, media materialities, industrial and policy analysis.

AIPS and the Hollings Center Pre-Departure Orientation!

On November 22, 2016 AIPS in collaboration with the Hollings Center for International Dialogue organized a pre-departure orientation for the participants of Afghanistan-Pakistan Partnership Summit. The Afghanistan-Pakistan Partnership Summit is a week long program in Istanbul, Turkey where 13 participants from Pakistan and 13 participants from Afghanistan will discuss areas of future cooperation between the two countries in specific sectors of interest.
